Production can be outsourced (to a limited extent) to the FW, where the parts are manufactured by FW staff. This is particularly intended for parts that are difficult to produce, for example due to complicated geometry or high tolerances. Parts to be made on FW’s CNC machines must always be made by an FW employee.

Complete technical drawings are required for outsourcing production work. Incomplete sketches, basic 3D models or screenshots of 3D models with dimensions are not sufficient. For CNC-machined parts, it may be acceptable, after consultation with an FW employee to provide a 3D model accompanied by a technical drawing containing only the key dimensions and tolerances.

An FW staff member will first assess the feasibility of a request to outsource production work. This may result in requests for modifications to improve feasibility, always taking into account the purpose of the parts. Once the adjustments are approved, production of the parts will proceed as quickly as possible.

The waiting time can range from one to four weeks, depending on how busy the workshop is and the complexity of the task. While this may not always be predictable, you can request an estimated timeline. If you have a deadline, please submit your work on time and let us know about the deadline as early as possible.
