The FW has various 3D printers available for students working on their thesis projects, as well as for lecturers and researchers who need to have parts made.
Requesting 3D prints
Available technologies
Available 3D printers
Available materials
A distinction is made in 3D printing between general plastic printing, for which there are no special requirements, and all other printing. The FW has a large number of printers for general plastic prints, so these requests can be processed quickly. It is not possible to select different settings for these prints. For other print requests, waiting times may increase during busy periods due to reduced capacity.
New print requests are checked for printability by FW staff. If there are any problems, you will be contacted. Once the part if ready, you will receive an email notification to let you know that it can be collected from the workshop.
Staff will assess whether the use of more expensive materials for a request is justified. If in doubt, you will be contacted. For new or complex designs, you may be asked to print them in a cheaper material first to verify that the design is up to standard before the final version is printed on a more expensive material.
Requesting 3D prints
3D printed parts can be requested via the following email addresses:
3D-FW@tudelft.nl – For general PLA-printed parts without special requirements.
3Dspecials-FW@tudelft.nl – For other 3D printed parts.
To process your request properly, please make sure that your email contains the following information:
- Part models
- The department or project you are working for
- Bij 3Dspecials: The preferred printing technology
- Bij 3Dspecials: The preferred material
- Bij 3Dspecials: Any preferences for print settings
Please ensure that your email contains the files for the parts to be printed and that they are sent to the correct address using the following naming format:
{amount}x_{part_name}.{extension}
- amount:
- part_name:
- extension:
How many times the part must be printed
Name of the part
Extension of the file, usually .stl
Accepted extensions are: .stl, .3mf, .step, .zip
